Keepsake Christmas Decorations - Part 1 By CD Mohatta
Some of the best memories of Christmas that I have is to take time with my children to make Christmas decorations. We have made decorations for the house that we have today. It's wonderful to remember that the activities that we shared, we have created decorations for Christmas. Ideas for creating your own decorations memory are a pleasure for the whole family.
We like to make wall decorations that add Christmas memories and the color of our house. A fantastic souvenir decoration is "Rudolph, a deer with wood in the shape of the hand of your child. Be sure to set the date, the child's name and age to it. A perfect compliment to Rudolph is a wreath with a photo of your child, which is detailed in Keepsake Christmas Decorations, Part 2.
DEER WITH HANDS wood
Materials: light and dark brown, white and construction paper, scissors, red marker and glue. The first you have to do is to draw around your child, hands, arms crossed and throwing light on brown paper. This will enable the right thumb is pointing left and the left thumb is pointing right. Ask the advice of their little fingers on a thumb. After tracing the hands and the area between a finger to the wrist (which forms a "U"), add the wood deer by drawing a line between images corresponding to the width of the hand (about 2 inches). Do parallel to the line formed between small fingers. Sideways, the form of a "C" with a view of the fingers.
Then let the child cut out the picture. If they cut you in May when a piece of brown paper (from top to bottom, for a 4 "x 6" piece). Next draw a slightly elongated shape with slight points at the end bent. This is where the finger "timber" is stuck. If the child is cut out this form, you need to cut 2 white "egg"-shaped circles the size of a silver dollar, 2 dark brown quarter-sized circles, and the size of half a dollar sheet red circle. They are the face. Cut the white cane sugar by about 2 "(hook) and 5" long and take about 12 diagonal lines of red, which can be colored with markers.
Now it is time to glue on the memory and to remember the deer stag, with your child at hand. Take the light brown oblong and glue "wood" on the party complied with the slight points. Next glue on the oblong white shapes from 2 "to 2 & ½" from the bottom on each side of the "face", with at least 1 "between them. Now, glue the circles of dark brown in the middle of whites and glue the red foil just below the eyes, in the middle of the face. With a black marker, a mouth, slightly curved shape near the bottom of the face. "Glue on the fishing rod to candy line of the mouth. You now 'Rudolph' with your child "handmade" wood, a great souvenir for the future that the size of your child this year.

Make Your Own Natural Christmas Decorations By Walee Courtney
Go green this Christmas. Reducing the impact of your own "carbon footprint".
If you visited Colonial Williamsburg Village for the Christmas season or past seasons, you'll be amazed by what people can do with natural plant materials, without artificial plastic imported.
You can put the story to your door by duplicating a colonial crown. There are many ways to do so. It is your imagination and art.
You can easily build your own with a wreath vine cage filled with floral foam and attach sprigs of greenery collected from your own garden.
During the colonial period, life was difficult. People do not so much material. But they were resourceful. Using plant material preserved and any kind of fruit they have on hand, they have shaped beautiful, catchy Christmas decorations for their houses.
Wreaths and swags were made to what is increasingly in their back yard.
They used dried okra pods, cotton pods, oyster shells, dried flowers from their own garden, branches of magnolia, boxwood, holly, pine, pine cones, and any other type of greenery, they have more and more. They also embellished their wreaths fresh pineapples, apples, oranges and pomegranates, all made without artificial sprays, odor or color of paint.
Fresh fruit was chosen for its color brilliance and its maintenance of quality when exposed to the harsh winter. All these aspects are artistically wired on a robust chassis for use with the greenery and dried flowers. Why pineapple, tropical fruit, is used in the traditional wreath of flowers is another matter. You can find that in the publications of Wiliamsburg Colonial.

Victorian Christmas Decorations - Christmas Traditions From the Victorians By Emma Martin
Christmas is one of the most joyous celebrations in the world. Over the past 100 years, the Victorian Christmas traditions, in particular, have influenced the way to commemorate this important occasion and religious symbolism. One of the ways in which Victorian tradition persists is the popularity of the way they have decorated their houses for the holidays.
Because many of our Christmas traditions originated in England during the Victorian era, it is not surprising to their favorite kinds of Christmas decorations continue to be big hits. The first and most notable is the Christmas tree. While the Christmas tree is of German origin, it was not popular elsewhere until Queen Victoria and Prince Albert began to display a Windsor Castle. Over the years, Christmas trees have become one of the dominant symbols of Christmas and are now even more popular in the United States than they are in Britain.
Victorians loved to decorate and their sense of style is opulent, chaotic and very ornate. They enjoyed colorful knick knacks and collectibles, it is not surprising that the decoration, they brought this sense of the Christmas tree itself.
Victorians wanted their trees to be as colorful and imaginative as possible. Thus, small toys, mini-bells, Christmas figures and even candies were used to decorate and embellish the Christmas tree. They also experienced different ways of lighting the trees, candles light gas oil lamps called bubble lights. Today, we are fortunate to be able to light our trees safely with miniature electric lighting, but I must say, I see a tree with lighted candles. I would not try it in my own home. I was afraid that I had put in place on fire!
While the candles are often a necessity for the lighting of Victorian houses, they were also used decorative and naturally they wound be used as a form of Christmas decorations as well. I made mention of their use on Christmas trees, but they have also been used to create more atmosphere in the house.
Some other examples of Victorian Christmas decorations, decorated woven jackets for the dining table, especially during the traditional Christmas Eve meal. The use of gold sprayed and painted pine cones in the dining room and other parts of the house is another classic example of a Victorian Christmas decorations and they also liked the candy cane.
If you like to collect Victoriana, you can buy them on the Victorian Christmas decorations and Victorian Christmas cards.

Why Outdoor Christmas Decorations Can Be Fun By Andrew Caxton
Outdoor decoration can be done in different ways. The choice of Christmas decorations in the open air are many and you can see in many outdoor displays. When it comes to decorate the outside, sometimes you need to remember that less is more.
For example, you'll be overdressed if you wear formal dress with seven diamond bracelets and four diamond necklaces. In the same way you do not want too much of your garden over the Christmas period. Results of your Christmas spirit is great, but too many Christmas decorations can not harm your outdoor decor.
It starts to be a problem when you start picking and choosing among all the different options available. It is better to have a few Christmas decorations outdoors without a lot of articles, because it makes the whole site look clean and too busy.
I saw the rolling yards with reindeer, Santa Claus, his sleigh, lighted palm trees, icicle lights, and several of those blow-up decorations. This site has been overshadowed by all of the outdoor scenery and ended up looking busy and worrying, rather than give you the spirit of Christmas.
May you want to jump into your decorating with both feet, but with Christmas decorations in the open air, it is best to abstain. You can use restraint in your choice of Christmas decorations outdoors and help them make your yard festive, without turning in the best place in the neighborhood.
To help you stay on track, it is preferable to choose a theme and then stay with it. You do not want to put the Grinch on top of a manger scene. If you choose the nativity of your theme, then choose traditional decorations on the characters. It will be the court, more cohesive and more interesting to your friends and family.
Another thing to remember is that just because you have a decoration that does not mean you must use it every year. May you love the Nutcracker fiber optic Christmas decorations that you have, but you want to make your garden in a more traditional nativity theme. You simply can not use the Nutcracker set this year and save it for another Christmas.
It's very exciting for the decoration of the Christmas season. It may be difficult to mitigate, because all the decorations are so fun and interesting to watch, but you need to keep things simple. Keep in mind that people pass you in a few seconds to see your entire site. Simpler is better, especially when we discuss Christmas decorations outdoors.

Homemade Christmas Decorations For a Simpler, More Meaningful Christmas By Denise Willms
Are you planning a simpler, more meaningful Christmas this year? Many families are setting aside jewelry and toys, and rediscover the peace that comes from spending quality time with family and friends.
Just because you are simply the celebration of this year, that does not mean that you must renounce your family traditions, gifts, parties and decorations - although some families choose to do so. Instead, you can find ways to reduce your festivities. Focus on why you're doing these activities instead of what you have to do.
House, Christmas decorations can create a single season
Making home Christmas decorations together is a wonderful way to mark the start of a season easier. Creating decorations with your family and friends is a way to remind yourself why you celebrate the holiday season.
Here are some simple home Christmas decorations that you can do with your family and friends. They are easy to ensure that even the youngest members of your family can participate. While you do this, remember that perfection is not the goal. Instead, enjoy the time to get to spend together, and savor the memories of Christmas you do.
Glitter Christmas ornaments: Use the theme of Christmas cookie cutters to cut shapes out of heavy white paper. Cover one side of paper with craft glue drying, then cover with white radiance. When the side is dry, glue white flakes on the other side too. Let dry flat. When your ornament is completely dry, make a hole at the top and over with a colorful ribbon or string attached to your tree.
Then the lid juice Christmas Ornament: This house decoration is a beautiful memory, and can be given as a gift to grandparents. Cut a photo of your child or your family, to take on a juice can lid. Use a hot glue gun to glue lace or fabric trim around the lid, as a part of the picture. Make a loop of ribbon, and attach it to the back of your ornament.
String ball and Ornament: This is my favorite Christmas ornament house because they can be decorated in many ways. Skip a small ball (as large as you want your ornament to be) and cover it with fabric stiffener. Wrap colorful son or string around the ball until it is almost all covered. Let it dry and pop the balloon. Put a shed on top and add small decorations for your holiday ornament.
An alternative for this ornament is leaving open when you are covered string. When you miss the ball, hot glue lace or trim around the edges of the opening. Inside the ornament set up a small nursery, or other Christmasy theme. You can also make the biggest ball and use this decorative table as decoration.

Holiday Decorating - Create an Old Fashioned Christmas With Your Kids By Tammy Billings
These days, it seems like Christmas has become very commercial. Remember the days of yester years by creating an old fashioned Christmas decorating theme that your children can help with. It is easy to do when you implement some of the simple ideas in this article.
Make a Christmas ball decorating from old Christmas cards.
Use one size glass to trace circles onto twenty different Christmas cards. Have your children help you cut the circles from each card. Next, cut out an equilateral triangle out of cardboard that fits within the circle. On the back of each Christmas card circle, use a pencil and trace the triangle onto the card. Fold the three edges created by the triangle outward towards the front of the card. This will leave you with three flaps on each circle. With a low temp glue gun, attach five circles together by gluing the backs of the flaps together on two sides, triangle points to the center, completing the ball top by gluing the first circle to the fifth. Glue an additional circle to the bottom flaps of each of the original five circles, creating a sphere. Set aside and repeat for the remaining ten circles. Glue the two then circle clusters together at open flaps to create the finished sphere. Add a string or holiday ribbon to hang your ball and adorn with glitter or bells to finish.
Create a lovely tree garland from strung popcorn.
Make a large bowl of popcorn and let it cool. Take a needle and thread and string the popcorn onto the thread by pushing the needle through the popcorn. Do not cut your thread until you push the popcorn down the length and decide how long you would like your garland. Tie off your end with a large knot and continue stringing the popcorn until your thread is full. Tie off the last end and carefully place the popcorn on your tree.
Buy Styrofoam Christmas decorations and add glitter.
You can purchase Styrofoam trees, sleighs, reindeer and more at your local craft shop. Help your children decorate the Christmas items with glue, glitter or sequins. Use the newly decorated holiday ornaments on your tree or on your tables.
Make a candy Christmas tree.
Take a Styrofoam Christmas tree and cover it with red and white peppermints. It is best to use the candy that is individually wrapped and then you can glue the top of the wrapper to the tree and overlap the candies. This way, when you take the tree apart, the candy could still be eaten safely. Make a bow and pin or glue it to the top of the tree.
Create paper snowflakes out of white paper.
You need to start with a square of white paper. Fold the paper in half twice, forming a smaller square. Next, fold the smaller square corner to corner to form a triangle. Make different size cut outs on all sides and then open the snowflake to see what you have created. Next, attach a string or thread to the snowflake for hanging. You can use these to decorate your tree, hang in windows or hang from your ceiling.
Gather pine cones and make a holiday arrangement.
After you gather your pine cones, you might want to spray some with a faux snow flocking to make it appear like snow is on them. Display your pine cones in a glass bowl, jar or vase. Add holiday greens around the base along with a Christmas bow to finish off your arrangement.
Make single stem flower holders from Christmas balls.
Remove the metal hanger and tops from a Christmas ball. Use a file and lightly file down the rough edges of the stem of the ball. Fill your Christmas ball with water and put it in a small clay or ceramic pot. You should paint your pot to match your Christmas decorations unless you have purchased a festive pot. Next, add a single rose, tulip or poinsettia stem to each Christmas ball. This makes a very elegant Christmas floral vase.
Use deep stemware or ice tea glasses with candy canes as table decorations.
Simply hang small candy canes around the perimeter of the glass, with the main stem of the candy cane inside the glass.
Turn a picture frame into a wonderful holiday decoration with the help of your child.
Staple holiday ribbon of your choice on to the back of the picture frame and then drape the ribbons over the front of the picture frame. Next, cut out your favorite holiday scenes from Christmas cards and glue them to the ribbon. Any of these holiday decorating ideas, or even all of them, make great inexpensive alternatives that will help you bring an old fashioned Christmas theme into your home this holiday season.

Christmas Traditions & Customs in Ireland By Mairead Foley
Candle in the window
It's said that a house with a candle lighting on its window is a sign of welcome for Mary and Joseph.
The candle is supposed to be lit by the youngest child and the flame put out by a girl called Mary. Is this why the name Mary was so popular in the old days? It was also a sign that Priests were welcome to have mass in that house as masses were forbidden during Penal Times.
Traditionally, a candle was only lit in one window, but nowadays at Christmas, most houses have electric candles in all windows.
Festive decorations
Holly grows wild in Ireland, so it a very common decoration in Irish house over Christmas.
A berry filled holly wreath on the front door is a very popular decoration and is a tradition passed down through the years when long ago poor people would use it to decorate their homes.
The nativity crib, tinsel, baubles, bows and lights both inside and outside are also used to decorate homes.
Decorating the Christmas tree
This was a Pagan custom, which represented the various lunar objects important to them like the sun, moon and stars. The tradition of giving gifts also came from the Pagan era and is a huge part of Christmas today.
Christmas trees are decorated with tinsel and twinkling fairy lights, and while some people put an angel on top of the tree, others prefer a star.
Nowadays in Ireland, Christmas trees and decorations go up as early as the first week of December. In Ireland, it is thought to be bad luck to take Christmas decorations down before the 6th January.
Whitewashing the outhouses
The custom of white washing (painting) outhouses still goes on in some rural places in Ireland. This goes back to a time before Christianity when the entire farm inside and out, was scrubbed and polished in respect of the coming of baby Jesus.
Santa Claus
Late on Christmas Eve, after everybody has gone to sleep, Santa visits the children of Ireland. While they are tucked up in bed, he leaves gifts under Christmas trees and fills Christmas stockings. In return, Santa gets a carrot for Rudolph, a mince pie and a bottle of Guinness!
Christmas Food
Christmas cooking starts in the months before Christmas! Traditional Christmas fruit cakes, porter cakes and plum puddings are made, wrapped and stored. They are opened every now and again and some brandy or whiskey is poured on them to keep them moist.
The traditional Christmas dinner in Ireland consists of ham, stuffed turkey or roast goose, potatoes, vegetables and cranberry sauce. The usual appetizer is salmon or prawn cocktail while the desert is mainly plum pudding with brandy sauce or fresh cream, followed by Christmas cake or mince pies.
(Traditionally the pubs or shops don't open at all on Christmas day. However, nowadays you will find the odd petrol station and shop open but they are few and far between).
Hunting the Wren (The Wran)
The Wren Boy Procession is another Christmas tradition in Ireland. It was at one time commonplace in towns all over Ireland, but nowadays you are most likely to see it in the south of Ireland, and Dingle in Co. Kerry is one town where this tradition is very much alive. It happens each year on the 26th of December (St. Stephen's Day), when The Wren Boys march through the streets of the town dressed in straw, to the beat of drums and tin whistles. It is said that this tradition reigns from Pagan times, when the little wren was considered the 'King of all Birds'. Originally the wren was hunted and killed and then paraded through the town on top of a pole, instead nowadays, the Wren Boys use this opportunity to collect money for charity.
And finally, don't be shocked if you see people swimming in the icy cold water on Christmas Day - this has become an annual event at many locations all over the country, and it's all in the name of charity.

Selecting Your Christmas 2008 Tree By Greg Greer
The Christmas tree is the focal point of your Christmas decorations. The first decision to buy a tree is to decide if you want to live or artificial tree. There are good and bad points for both types.
The trees
Natural trees have the advantage of adding this wonderful smell of pine in your home and a family adventure by going to the purchase of the tree. In today's market there are many options available in your choice of tree. The first thing to choose a tree is to make sure it is as fresh as possible and to reduce the bottom to allow water to be absorbed by the bottom. There are many varieties of trees available and you want to select one that suits your tastes family. You can get short needles, long needles, different colors, different heights and different widths. You must decide before the start of your family outing that many of these variables as possible. The next step is to decide where to shop for your tree. You can visit many trees corner shops, department stores, nurseries and tree farms. Try to find a tree that meets your needs and has been open so you can see that the trees will be final appearance. Try to find trees with trunks and a good model on the entire branch of the tree. The advantage of the tree corner shop and department stores, then you'll probably save on the purchase price of your tree. The drawbacks of the tree corner shop and the shop is great that the tree was cut for a long period of time and types of trees are fairly limited. My preference is a tree farm or nursery where you know you get a fresh tree of better quality. It may also be a full day of adventure when you go to a tree farm, sleigh ride, drinking cider, throwing snowballs and just have a good time.
Artificial trees
Artificial trees have the advantages of being a time of purchase, less risk of fire, and ease of installation. Once again, you want to have the type of tree, tree height and width of the tree in your mind before you begin shopping. With artificial trees, you must also decide if you want a tree unlit (the installation of lights) or a tree preli (lamps are installed on the tree). I prefer horsetail trees because of the ease of installation and the lights are distributed throughout the tree. Another factor, you should consider artificial trees is the number of tips on tree branch. Most advice on the branch of the tree more complete and realistic, it will look. All you have to do is decide your tree height and compare all the trees at this height. Normally, the highest peak count the most expensive of the tree. I strongly recommend buying a tree storage bag the size of the tree you buy. This is an investment for life and better storage container, the better your tree is preserved. Another factor to consider when buying a tree is whether you want out of the tree. If you want a tree outside, make sure it says use outside the box. If you want a tree outside I strongly recommend watching the commercial quality of artificial trees because they are much more solidly built.
Our preference for our house is an artificial tree prel. The initial cost is more, but after about 5 years of use, the cost was recovered and we still have many years of use. We bought a tree top but it is just as beautiful today as the day we bought.
I hope I have provided you with some ideas and suggestions on choosing your Christmas tree this year. I gotta go and unpack my tree now and enjoy Christmas 2008 off to good start. A Merry Christmas to all a good night!

Mistletoe Used As a Christmas Decoration is a Parasite By Alice Gines
Mistletoe is commonly used as Christmas decorations We all know Kissing under the mistletoe at Christmas. According to custom Christmas, two people who meet under the mistletoe hanging are required to kiss. The custom is of Scandinavian origin.
Shakespeare called "The disastrous Gui" in reference to the Scandinavian legend, that Balder, the god of peace, was killed by an arrow of mistletoe was restored to life, at the request of other gods and goddesses. Mistletoe has been given to be kept by the goddess of love, and he was ordained a priest in Olympus that all those who have passed under it should receive a kiss, to show that the branch was the emblem of love, not death.
The custom has been incorporated into various holiday songs. See if you can recognize any ...
*** The 1943 song "I'll Be Home for Christmas" tells the story of a lonely traveler eager to get home and see, among other things, mistletoe.
*** Mistletoe is mentioned in the song "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire" ( "The Christmas Song"), made famous by Nat King Cole, and written by Mel Tormé.
*** The song "A Holly Jolly Christmas" sung by Burl Ives, and used for the TV movie "Rudolph the red nose reindeer," the characteristics of the line, "Ho Ho, the mistletoe" and the "l 'embrace once for me. "
*** In 1961, singer Aretha Franklin released a Christmas song called "Kissin 'by the mistletoe."
*** In 1971, singer Lynn Anderson recorded the song "Mr. Gui" on her album The Christmas holidays Album. The song speaks of an elf who hangs Mistletoe in homes so that people can "steal a kiss someone they know. "
*** In 2001, Barbra Streisand has released the song "It must have been the mistletoe."
*** "Rocking around the Christmas tree" also refers to "mistletoe hung where you can see, every couple tries to stop."
And this child very popular Christmas song the first line is, "I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus" under the mistletoe last night. I'm sure we've all heard and we sang.
Mistletoe was often considered a pest that destroyed trees and devalues natural habitats, but has recently been recognized as a keystone species ecological, an organization that has a disproportionate influence on his community. A wide variety of animals depend on mistletoe for food, consumption of leaves and young shoots, pollen transfer between plants and seed dispersal sticky.
So rather than being a parasite, mistletoe can have a positive effect on biodiversity, providing high quality food and habitat for a wide variety of animals in forests and woodlands in the world wide. (But I would not feed your pet.)
Provide healthy alternatives for people and animals with natural health products and natural health solutions without harmful side effects and keep you up with all the news happening in your world and your pets world. Alice Gines, http://www.people-to-pets.com/blog
